INTERPRETOR/TRANSLATOR

Can you read, write and speak English but can also read, write and speak Amharic, Somali, Oromo Soninke, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese and/or Spanish?

Specific Job Qualifications:

  1. Must be bilingual - able to communicate in English AND a language other than English verbally and in writing;
  2. Must have access to reliable source of transportation; and
  3. Must have access to email and computer writing/editing software

Job Duties:

  • Translating English documents to a language other than English
  • Proof read, edit and revise translated materials
  • Verbal communication at meetings, home visits for staff, volunteers, parents and/or children whose first language is not English
  • Serves as a clarifier and cultural and linguistic resource

  This is an on-call position - $18.26 to start - no benefits

 


 

 

LEAD BUS DRIVER - TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Responsible for the overall supervison and implementation of Transportation Services. The Lead Driver supervises, monitors and evaluates Transportation Services.

Specific Job Qualifications for this Position

  1. Valid Commercial Washington State driver’s license with a minimum of two year CDL endorsement.
  2. Must have a school bus endorsement in addition to a passenger endorsement on their CDL.
  3. Safe driving record.
  4. State Department of Transportation Physical exam which indicates no health related concerns that would impede the safe operation of DLEC vehicles, e.g., alcoholism, addiction to narcotic drugs.
  5. Ability to pass random drug tests when required.
  6. Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings and for special events.
  7. Ability to maintain calm and organized in potentially injurious and stressful situations.
  8. Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and repair.
  9. Computer proficiency: Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, other applications
  10. Basic office equipment proficiency:  copy, fax, voice mail etc.
  11. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  12. Excellent organizational and time management skills
  13. Supervision experience and ability to work well as a team.
  14. Ability to interact positively with a varied cliental and support and model positive conflict resolution

34 Hours per week - 9.5 months per year (summer usually off) - $15.64 - $17.17 p/h to start with full employee benefits


 

 SUBSTITUTE/CHILD CARE WORKER - Mostly Days

Provides on-call coverage to absentee teacher. Will assist the teaching team in implementing individualized, daily educational program for a group of pre-school aged children in a multicultural, multilingual, bias free environment.

Specific Job Qualifications for this Position

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Able to communicate in English verbally and in writing; bilingual a plus
  3. Previous work or volunteer experience working with 3-5 year old children
  4. Able to lift and potentially carry a child weighing up to 50 pounds
  5. Able to routinely kneel, bend, crouch and sit on the floor for extended periods of time
  6. Able to stand, walk and sit on child sized chairs throughout the day
  7. Access to reliable source of transportation to multiple DLEC sites
  8. Food Handlers Permit, CPR/First Aid Card preferred
